The Agricultural Produce Market Committee, (Gandevi-Chikhli) Bilimora was established in the year 1958.With the power conferred by Bombay Agricultural Produce Market Act-1939, Honorable Government of Mumbai in its draft notification No P.M.P. 12756 A, Dated 01/06/1957 notified entire Gandevi-Chikhli taluka as a market area. The Market Committee started its function from 16 th of May 1958.In 1963 Chikhli taluka came into existence. Therefore Honorable Director of Agricultural Produce Marketing & Rural Finance,Gujarat State, Ahemedabad in his draft notification No-D.A.P.M.S.T. Dated
06/05/1965 declared The Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Bilimora as a separate market
committee for entire Gandevi taluka.

Purpose

The purpose to establish regulated market is to facilitate farmers where they can get maximum price for their produces. At that time the leaders from Co-Operative sector of Gandevi taluka namely Late.Mr.Batubhai Nichhabhai Maheta residing at Salej, Late.Mr.Vasanji Khandubhai Desai residing at ,Late.Mr.Amratlal Narayanbhai Joshi (Masterkaka) residing at Bilimora, Late.Mr.Paragji Dahyabhai Naik residing at Samarvadi,& Late.Mr.Gulabbhai Bhikhabhai Maheta residing at Ajarai initiated to establish market yard in Gandevi taluka to provide necessary infrastructure facilities to farmers & traders & to stop all ill legal practices prevailing in agriculture produce’s trade & to make all the procedure
transparent.
